They annoy me so much. What’s the point, exactly? I’m genuinely curious. I get that it’s supposed to help people, but I don’t see how it possibly could. If you can read an image description, can’t you also see the image itself?
I’m gonna quote spectralradiance on this one. They “allow people who are visually impaired to access images via screen readers.” I’m told they’re good for people who are colorblind and people who have full and partial blindness. Sounds alright to me!
I figure it’s not too challenging to write or scroll past a short description. I’m fine with people unfollowing if it annoys them or not reblogging the descriptions for their personal tumblrs. I’d just rather be conscientious about it for this blog, because it’s important to me that people who need screen readers can enjoy it too!
…or possibly grow to hate me for writing incredibly stupid descriptions.
